Exported to 193 Countries, With Electrification Nearing 80%! Chinese Forklifts are Leading the Global Logistics Transformation
Aug 28,2025
In modern industrial production and logistics transportation, forklifts play a critical role. From factory workshops to warehouses, and then to ports and terminals, their efficient operation can be seen everywhere. In recent years, China's forklift industry has continued to develop rapidly, dominating the domestic market and increasingly demonstrating strong competitiveness on the global stage.

Since 2009, China's forklift production and sales have ranked first in the world for 16 consecutive years. In 2024, the annual sales exceeded 1.2855 million units, a year-on-year increase of 9.52%. This achievement once again confirms the strength of Chinese manufacturing and its market recognition. Amid the overall growth, the industry structure is also undergoing profound changes—sales of electric forklifts reached 946,300 units, accounting for 73.61% of the total, while sales of internal combustion forklifts fell by 10.06% to 339,300 units. This trend of “electric rising, fuel declining” clearly outlines the industry’s shift toward green and electric development.
The export market has become another strong engine for the development of China's forklift industry. In 2024, China exported 480,500 forklifts, a year-on-year increase of 18.53%, with electric forklifts accounting for 78.81% of exports and growing by 25.54%. Products were exported to 193 countries and regions. In this wave of global expansion, brands like RUNTX, which focus on offering cost-effective solutions for overseas markets, are winning the trust of more and more international users with reliable products and flexible services.

From the perspective of domestic regional distribution, East China accounts for 47.63% of national sales, with Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Shandong provinces being particularly active. In global competition, Chinese forklift companies are also showing strong momentum—9 out of the top 20 global companies are from China, with Anhui Heli and Hangcha Group breaking into the top ten, demonstrating the comprehensive progress of Chinese manufacturing.
On the technological front, new energy and intelligence have become dual drivers of the industry’s leap forward. In lithium batteries, leading companies have launched 55-ton lithium-powered forklifts; in the hydrogen sector, 48-ton and even 210-ton hydrogen fuel cell forklifts have filled domestic gaps. At the same time, multiple technology routes such as sodium-ion batteries and solid-state batteries are being developed in parallel, driving the industry toward a multi-energy era.
Intelligentization is also advancing rapidly. In 2024, sales of unmanned forklifts in China reached 24,500 units, a growth rate of 26%, with a penetration rate of 1.9%. Many companies are actively transitioning to system integration and intelligent logistics solutions, with significant growth in related orders and contract values. Industry collaborations, such as the “Tiangang Laboratory” established by Huawei and Heli, are accelerating breakthroughs in key technologies like SLAM navigation and cluster scheduling.
Looking ahead, China’s forklift industry is moving toward broader development space. It is estimated that by 2029, the domestic forklift market will exceed 70 billion yuan, and the intelligent logistics solutions market may reach 201 billion yuan. Moving from “scale leadership” to “value leadership,” China’s forklift industry is redefining the boundaries of logistics efficiency.

As a brand continuously focused on overseas markets, RUNTX will keep leveraging the advantages of China’s manufacturing supply chain to provide global customers with cost-effective, highly adaptable forklift solutions, growing together with the industry and helping make global material handling smarter and more efficient.
